Salam Dears,

I thought this would be the best place to raise such question and get a satisfying answer :)

Does what many people, including me, perceive as an old Egyptian custom involving offering a beautiful lady (being a virgin is a must as far as I know) as a sacrifice to the river Nile, have any roots in Ancient Egyptian history, or is it just another historical error? Was it really practiced by our Egyptian grandparents, or is it just misconception that we inherited all through the years and from one generation to another?

Varying analysis had been offered regarding this so called “old Egyptian custom", some say it's a myth others insist it has been practiced, and some suggest that it’s been practiced but using a clay model… Butnone of these assumptions was supported by credible references, according to my humble knowledge.

I find it hard to believe that such bloody and violent practice has roots in the history of Ancient Egyptians, from which sprouted the origin of arts, etiquette, philosophy…

Have a great day :)
