Dear all,

A book discussion on 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez will be held Wednesday, October 11th at Beano's Cafe facing El Shams Club, Heliopolis, at 8:30 pm.

This discussion is part of Egypt Book Club activities, which is a yahoo group that aims at promoting reading, creative writing and critical thinking http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Egypt_Book_Club_/

I will be moderating the discussion, along with my fellow EBCians. The book discussion will go over Gabo's life, style : magic realism, the story, along with some of the novel's main themes ; time, solitude, religion, civilization, the book of genesis, plagues politics, modernity and female sexuality to name a few*.

Hope to see you there, Reham El Khayat

*Note that the above mentioned topics, will be discussed as pertaining to the Latin American heritage and culture as portrayed in the novel - not at large.
