It is an independant movie that won the annual award of the French Cultural
Center festival for best independant movie in April 2005, and is going to be
screened in a Festival in Moscow this September.

Ibrahim El Batout
BIOFILMOGRAPHY

Ibrahim El Batout was born in Port Said, Egypt in 1963. In 1985 he received
a B.Sc. in
Physics from the American University in Cairo. Since 1987 El Batout has
worked as a
cameraman capturing stories mainly about human loss, suffering, and
displacement for
various TV channels including ZDF (Germany), TBS (Japan), and ARTE (France).
In the
beginning of 2004, after covering twelve wars, El Batout decided to suspend
his
documentary-making career and step into the world of fiction films. ?Ithaki?
is the director?s
first feature film.
