Dear SWY community,?

One of my best friends is getting married this summer. Last year, she and her fianc? traveled around for a year. In Laos, they met a shaman who agreed do a ceremony before their wedding. It would be great if anyone is in or near Luang Prabang on Saturday the 28th of June and could film this for them. All details below!?

It would would be great if anyone could forward this message to the Ship for South East Asian Youth alumni - chances might be greater there??

Contact Kari directly:?kariertres@gmail.com

Thanks!?

Best regards,?

Here is the message from my friend Kari (kariertres@gmail.com):?

I'm looking for someone who's in Luang Prabang on Saturday 28 June and would be able to attend a shaman ceremony and film part of this for me.?

It's a long story, and I'll happily fill you in on the story in its entirety if you're keen to be part of this, though in brief:?

Last year, my boyfriend and I met a shaman in Luang Prabang who performed a ceremony for us 'to align our spirits'. This year we're getting married (in France) and we agreed with the shaman that he would also have ceremony for us in Luang Prabang just before. Not sure how much you know about shamanism, but apparently he will then climb a symbolic ladder to heaven where he would find our names in the books that the god/s ?keep and match them... so a match made in heaven! The neighbourhood will gather in the evening, where they will have a feast and eat the pig that has been slaughtered as part of the ceremony. (We paid for this btw). The guy who organises this for us in Luang Prabang is the neighbour of the shaman, he's a teacher and speaks perfect English.?

So. Again, trying to make this short until I know whether you're interested. We have already agreed with our friend in Luang Prabang that he will take photos and send us, so that we may show these at our actual wedding in France on 12 July. We would however also love to have a small video. It does not have to be anything fancy, a simple phone camera would do. It's just a matter of capturing part of this on film and having a memory.?

Would you be interested in helping us with this? Or do you know anyone who knows the basic about making a video (even just send us the raw footage and we can put it together as a film ourselves) who would be up for this? We would be happy to also pay for this, though I also think this is a unique opportunity for someone to experience. We travelled in Asia for a year and the afternoon with the small neighbourhood in Luang Prabang and the shaman ceremony was one of the most fun and bizarre nights of the entire trip!?

In the end - just a bit about me: I'm 32, Norwegian and I'm marrying Dominic, who's 32 and English. Here's the blog we had when we travelled, so you can get an idea about who we are:?idontdocamping.com?

I really hope to hear from you!!?

All the best, Kari?
